Wildly popular SF smash burger finds home in downtown food hall
IKEA in San Francisco, Aug. 21, 2023.
After years of selling crispy smash burgers around the Bay Area, this heralded burger pop-up is finally opening up full time — in downtown San Francisco.
Smish Smash is the purveyor of some of the thinnest, crunchiest smash burgers out right now. Heralded by SFGATE in 2020, the San Francisco Chronicle in 2024 and more, the beloved burger is the brainchild of chef Victor Donado and his partner Amy Han. It’s been a pop-up since 2020, when Donado and Han moved to the Bay Area from Los Angeles. Now, their first full-time operation is set to debut at IKEA’s Saluhall, a food court emporium highlighting globally influenced Bay Area small businesses, including Kayma, La Venganza, Curry Up Now, Casa Boriqueña, Momo Noodle and the Sarap Shop. The kiosk is slated to be open full time starting Jan. 25.
