California is on the verge of legalizing cannabis cafes, where people can legally smoke weed and eat food inside specialty licensed lounges. Lawmakers have already approved a bill legalizing the cafes and business owners are now waiting to see if Gov. Gavin Newsom will give final approval to the plan.

Newsom is skeptical of the idea — he vetoed a similar law last year — but celebrities are now joining the cause to convince the governor to say “yes” to weed cafes. Both Whoopi Goldberg and Woody Harrelson have recorded videos speaking directly to Newsom and urging him to sign the........
