Heaviest rain yet to come as storms intensify in SF Bay Area

Virtually all of the Bay Area will be under a flood watch this week as increasingly strong storms take aim at the region.
The North Bay is under a flood watch or advisory, with the Russian River briefly reaching flood stage Monday morning before retreating. But starting Tuesday morning, the entire Bay Area and much of the Central Coast will be under a flood watch expected to last until Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Dylan Flynn, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, said the reason for the intense rain is that an atmospheric river, bringing moisture from Hawaii, is expected to strengthen in the coming days.
