2 Bay Area cities top list of places where it's hardest to 'live comfortably'

A recently published study revealed how much you need to make in order to live comfortably in the country’s biggest cities and confirmed something that won’t come as a surprise to Bay Area residents: It’s really expensive to live here. How expensive? The most.

GOBankingRates, an online personal finance publication, culled data from a handful of sources including the U.S. census, Zillow, BestPlaces and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The site used the metrics to compile a list of the 50 biggest cities in the United States and assessed the salary needed to afford residing there comfortably.

KTVU-TV filtered this list by salary alone and found that San Jose is the priciest city, with an annual income of $265,926 needed to “live comfortably.” Coming in at second place with another quarter........
