The 49ers’ roller coaster of a season that’s now generated very real momentum toward a potential Super Bowl appearance just got even more good news – this time, with injured star linebacker Fred Warner.
The four-time All-Pro’s rehab from a devastating fractured ankle suffered on Oct. 12 is considerably ahead of schedule, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapaport and Mike Garafolo. Now, instead of what many assumed was a season-ending injury, the duo report that Warner has a chance to return to game action even by the NFC title game, let alone the Super Bowl.
