We’re just three days into the new year, and still over two months away from March Madness, but Cal fans who stayed up Friday night were treated to one of the wilder college basketball finishes you will see in Berkeley.

Not only did the Bears (13-2 overall, 1-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference) finish off a thrilling, 72-71 comeback victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but the dramatic final seconds featured a rare 4-point play for the win, an even rarer officiating double-reversal that allowed the 4-point play to count, and an opposing head coach losing his mind as the final buzzer sounded, going after the referee and needing to be held back by his players and assistants.
