The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident on northbound Interstate 5 at Grapevine Road on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025.

California travelers faced heavy traffic on a crucial freeway connecting Los Angeles with the Central Valley due to multiple vehicle crashes the day before Christmas Eve.
 
Since 5 a.m. Tuesday, Interstate 5 through the Grapevine has seen one traffic jam after another, in both directions, as motorists move across the state during the holiday travel rush. As of 5 p.m., a California Highway Patrol officer told SFGATE that while lanes are open, travelers should expect significant delays between the unincorporated Los Angeles County community of Gorman and the Central Valley.
