Federal officials have arrested four people accused of plotting coordinated bomb attacks in Southern California on New Year’s Eve.

The defendants — Audrey Illeene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante Gaffield and Tina Lai — were taken into custody Friday, near Lucerne Valley in San Bernardino County, according to a criminal complaint unsealed in federal court. The four were apprehended as they were allegedly constructing test bombs in a remote area of the Mojave Desert.

Prosecutors allege that the group of four, whom investigators identify as members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front, or TILF, conspired to build and detonate multiple improvised explosive devices on Dec. 31. The affidavit also alleges that during a Dec. 7 meeting, Carroll and Page discussed plans for future attacks after New Year’s Eve, including targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and vehicles in January or February.
