2028 Olympic soccer stadium gets $1M to avoid poop-ocalypse

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games are inching closer to California, with ticket sales already happening (though not without some frustrations) and a variety of infrastructure projects well underway around Los Angeles. The massive global event is set to transform Southern California when it arrives, drawing in millions of spectators and stress-testing the region in a variety of ways, from public transit to police and security apparatuses.

Thankfully, no one is going to have to worry about the out-of-date pipes at Pasadena’s historic Rose Bowl. The 103-year-old venue, which first debuted in 1922 as a home for winter football games, is set to receive a bunch of core upgrades over the next 20 years, totaling more than $200 million in all, but perhaps none are as needed and timely as the toilets.
