Hawaii unveils bold plans for new visitor destination |

As the nearly 50-year-old Paradise Cove Luau at the Ko Olina resort on Oahu’s west side prepares to close on New Year’s Eve, plans have emerged for a new Hawaiian cultural space and a brand-new luau, which are set to take its place.
Landowner James Campbell Co. is closing Paradise Cove to redevelop the area into a new gathering place called the Cove, which is expected to include restaurants, retail shops and entertainment. In November, the popular Duke’s Restaurants announced that it will be one of the restaurants opening at the Cove in 2028.

As part of the redevelopment, several oceanfront acres have been set aside for cultural use, with an amphitheater slated to host the brand-new “Kaula Luau,” produced and choreographed by Native Hawaiian........
