Fingers crossed good fortune comes in 2026

I ate the grapes and am awaiting prosperity and good fortune.

Even though I am not a huge believer in all that stuff, I do throw spilled salt over my shoulder, don’t walk under ladders, no shoes on the bed.  I pick up pins and pennies, or any coin for that matter, on the ground, knock on wood and so on because I don’t want to take any chances. What if there is something to it and I get hit with all kinds of awful things or miss out on a windfall?

The whole grape thing was new to me but I like green grapes so it wasn’t a huge scary thing to eat a dozen of them at midnight on New Year’s Eve. I heard about this belief from a person who grew up in Nicaragua and confirmed by someone who is from Peru. I thought it was funny so decided to check it out.

Apparently, it originated in Spain and migrated to countries in North and Central American and the Caribbean. You begin eating the 12 grapes, one at each........
