Copy cat: Why duplicate other people's ideas?

Remember when, as a child, someone called you a copycat and you were mortified?

Being unique should still, for the most part, be the hope and wish of each of us. We really should not want to be like or even compared to anyone else even someone famous or well accomplished. We should want to be accepted and appreciated for who we are.

Oscar Wilde’s quote, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…” is often used to express admiration. What we often don’t do is continue with Mr. Wilde’s thought, which is, “…that mediocrity can pay to greatness,” which gives a completely different meaning to the saying. It kinda says if you resort to imitation it’s because you can’t come up with an idea of your own.

We see this more often than we care to acknowledge. Fashion is a good example. Look back at childhood photos and you can see your mother dressed........
