ROBINET: I can stop whenever I want!

Apparently, when I find a new hobby, I throw myself completely into it.

Since it’s been such a long time since I started doing something new, I was unaware of how obsessive I could become.

But there are other people who are far more addicted to Lego than I am, and I’m pretty sure I could stop anytime I wanted to. I just don’t want to!

Since first dipping my toes into the transparent blue bricks of the Lego waters a scant few months ago, I have fully immersed myself, bathing in the knowledge of others far more experienced than me.

Now, lest you think I’ve lost it completely, I will point out that if you, like I did previously, believe that Lego is just for kids, it is not!

Today, there is an entire segment of the market devoted to Adult Fans of Lego (AFOLs), and many people credit that initiative to helping shore up the brand.

Right now, I’m in what I call the “building phase” of this new passion, which let me tell you, isn’t cheap.

Even second-hand Lego is expensive, so I’m trying to squirrel away sets I want to have for that time of life when I’ll have a lot more time on my hands, retirement.

Since plunging full on into this new hobby, I’ve joined a couple of Facebook groups devoted to the subject, but have only........
