Eric Bunnell's People: Fun - and a Ferris wheel - at St. Anne's Community Festival
The popular community festival returns with one of its signature attractions
Fun returned to town Wednesday with the 2026 edition of St. Anne’s Community Festival.
“We’re good to go,” said Dan Simpson, leading the infusion of new volunteers who stepped forward last year to stop the St. Thomas institution from shuttering after five decades.

And returning along with the fun was the Ferris wheel as World’s Finest Shows set up its midway.
“I snapped a pic for you,” Dan e-shared.
With uncertainty surrounding the festival’s future, the signature attraction was booked elsewhere last year.
The festival, with a renewed focus on family friendliness, continues through Saturday on the grounds of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church. Gates open weekdays after school, and all day Saturday.
Blue flags are flying again this year over beaches in Port Stanley and Port Burwell.
Port Stanley’s Main Beach and Burwell’s Municipal East Beach are among 13 beaches and 10 marinas to earn the prestige pennant this year in Canada. The flag is an international award given to beaches and marinas that meet high environmental, safety and cleanliness standards.
“The Blue Flag will be an important symbol for Canadians looking for memorable beach and marina experiences this summer,” says Swim Drink Fish, which administers the program in Canada, in a release.
“Last year, a record number of Canadians visited Blue Flag destinations where they were able to explore local sites and waters.”
True to its name, Swim Drink Fish is a non-profit that promotes swimmable, drinkable, fishable water.
This is the 16th year that the Port Stanley beach has flown its Blue Flag. It was the first Blue Flag beach on Lake Erie.
Port Burwell’s beach earned its flag in 2018.
