Dave Expands With Flex: Can It Become a Primary Spending Tool?

DAVE's Flex card broadens its credit offering with pay-in-four financing, higher spending limits and Mastercard acceptance as testing expands.

Dave Inc. DAVE is expanding beyond short-term liquidity with Dave Flex, a Mastercard $MA-branded general-purpose credit card featuring a pay-in-four installment option. Launched in limited testing in April 2026, Flex allows members to repay purchases in four installments every two weeks without compound interest, late fees or a traditional credit check.

Flex fits Dave’s broader strategy of deepening relationships with existing members. Management indicated that Dave Flex is being launched with spending limits roughly twice those of ExtraCash, which should support higher utilization. Flex also offers a longer repayment period through its pay-in-four structure compared with ExtraCash’s single-payment model. Unlike merchant-specific BNPL products, the card can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted without requiring a new application for each purchase.
