Anthropic is entertaining investor offers for a fresh funding round that would value the artificial intelligence company at more than $900 billion, according to Bloomberg, potentially making it the most valuable AI startup in the world.

According to Bloomberg, Anthropic has not yet accepted any offers and discussions remain in their earliest phases. The round is expected to total $40 billion to $50 billion, according to TechCrunch, which cited multiple unnamed sources familiar with the matter. Anthropic declined to comment.

For context, OpenAI's most recent funding round — a $122 billion raise completed in late March — placed that company's valuation at $852 billion, a figure a new Anthropic deal would eclipse. Anthropic's most recent valuation was $380 billion, set in February.

A May board meeting is when Anthropic will likely settle on whether to proceed and on what terms, one source told TechCrunch. Demand from outside investors is running well ahead of the planned raise — TechCrunch noted that at least one institution willing to write a check of up to $5 billion has been unable to get face time with CFO Krishna Rao.

The company has publicly disclosed that its annualized revenue run rate now exceeds $30 billion, up from roughly $9 billion just a few months ago at the close of 2025. Sources who spoke to TechCrunch and claimed direct knowledge of Anthropic's internal financials put the actual figure nearer to $40 billion. A large portion of that revenue is driven by its AI coding tools, including Claude Code, according to CNBC.

The fundraising push also reflects the company's need to secure computing infrastructure. Under a deal reached with Amazon $AMZN earlier this month, Anthropic will gain access to up to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity, with Amazon committing investment of as much as $25 billion. Separately, a joint arrangement involving Google $GOOGL and Broadcom $AVGO will bring another 5 gigawatts of capacity online, with Google also pledging as much as $40 billion in future investment in the company.

Anthropic also recently unveiled a model called Claude Mythos Preview, which it describes as having advanced cybersecurity capabilities. The model has been made available to only a select group of companies. Running Mythos at scale requires substantial compute resources, and CNBC cited that infrastructure need as a contributing factor behind Anthropic's push for fresh capital.

Any new round could prove to be Anthropic's final private capital raise: Bloomberg has separately reported that the company is weighing an IPO that could come as early as October.
