Newlyweds vow to love and cherish each other in good times and bad, for better or for worse. Many couples are indeed able to live out these vows over the course of a happy lifetime. Other couples recite their marital vows hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Good news for newlyweds and veteran spouses alike: Crisis is more likely to be unifying rather than dividing.
