Is This Anger Narcissistic or Emotionally Intelligent?

Anger is an important emotion, but it can be destructive in a relationship when it is defensive. Unhealthy anger prevents a person from looking at themselves. Instead of reflecting and regulating, the person immediately attacks you. This is often the type of anger that a narcissistic person experiences. Another type of anger, however, can be useful by providing data that something unfair is occurring in a relationship. This type of anger may make you uncomfortable, but if tolerated and understood, it can help you protect yourself from unfair treatment and manipulation.

A narcissistic person has difficulty looking in the mirror. They often have a knee-jerk response to any data that may ding their ego. Instead of regulating themselves, they instantly strike out and blame you. Consider this scenario: Taylor and Austin are vacationing in Arizona. Austin is excited about trying a unique restaurant that is near the resort. As they are getting into the car, Taylor laments that he ate too much for lunch and is not terribly hungry.........
