After videos of passengers being crammed into WestJet seats like sardines circulated, the airline decided to reverse its decision
If I had been on a WestJet flight when I heard the news that it was doing an about-face on its plan to add more seats with less legroom, I might have toasted the airline with my free plastic glass of tomato-based beverage.

At long last, the people have spoken and have been heard.
In October, I wrote about my incredulity upon hearing that WestJet was trumpeting its newest “offering” for “guests” in economy class: seats with “a fixed recline design.”
At the time, the airline announced it was introducing a “refreshed” cabin design on some of its planes, which included shoehorning an extra row of seats in the economy cabin. The move was touted as a plus for passengers, since seats that can no longer be pushed back “helps preserve personal space.”
It was quite a bold spin, but clearly the guests weren’t buying it.
