LETTER: Striking Charlottetown workers would rather be at the table

I honour Philip Brown’s position as mayor of Charlottetown, and I hold him in high esteem as a person I have known off and on over the years.

I am now a resident of Charlottetown, by choice. I know that many other residents are ashamed to see well-respected and competent workers walking up and down in front of City Hall for over 10 weeks. First of all, the physical distress of being exposed to the sweltering heat of this summer is a high price that Charlottetown’s water and sewer workers were paying just to have their rights recognized. Those rights are uncomplicated: job security, fair wages and respectful negotiations.
