What hopes, what fears, what anxieties centre in the Day Before! An event of vital importance, socially, personally, nationally, is scheduled for a date in the future. In the distance, interest in it is merely academic and speculative. As the date draws nearer, the interest strongly tinged with hope, increases cumulatively until The Day Before when all the hopes and fears are blended into a veritable agony of uncertainty, hope and fear fighting for the mastery and the event, perhaps the turning point in a life, must be faced.
