This past year has been a difficult one for health care on Prince Edward Island. There is little value in pretending otherwise. Physicians, care teams and patients alike have lived with uncertainty and sustained pressure. Public disagreements between physicians and government have added strain, particularly for family physicians, while many Islanders continue to face rising costs and hard choices of their own.

National Physicians’ Day is, first and foremost, a day to say thank you.
