Like, really made it?
I’m not talking about dumping a mixture into a machine you ordered off Amazon.
I’m talking about an old-school, hand-cranked metal drum spinning around in a wooden bucket. The kind that takes prodigious amounts of coarse salt, ice and elbow grease.
I’m happy to say, I have. It’s a core memory from childhood.
My grandmother had an ancient ice cream maker and every once in a blue moon, we’d break it out of storage to make a batch for a special occasion.
It was always the same recipe that made what was, I believe, the best........
