Cheers to P.E.I. residents who made a difference in their community this year.  The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry, which operated its food bank out of a new facility in 2025, serves between 1,400 and 1,500 families each month, helping up to 4,000 people. Executive director Mike MacDonald told The Guardian that about 35 per cent of the book bank’s clientele are children. New this year, a co-ordinated volunteer effort in October saw one Big Fall Food Drive Day in the communities of Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall working together to fill the Upper Room’s shelves.
