Golf blossoms in Niagara

Too many great courses, not enough time. No truer words have been spoken.

While I may have played more than my fair share of the world’s so-called “best,” another adjective was on my mind last week. Not best, nor greatest, most famous nor toughest. Simply, most beautiful.

The perfect springtime state of mind. I had the joy of experiencing one of the country’s finest clubs. Where it’s about the golf and nothing else. Designed by one of the best back in the golden era of course architecture. In a part of the country that seems to always experience the spectacular beauty of spring before the rest of us.

Here in central Ontario, we’re caught in a long and slow reveal by mother nature. The magnolia tree out front of our north end home has been in various stages of bloom for the better part of three weeks, a record since moving to this part of town a decade ago. But then there’s the full bloom of Niagara in all its splendour. Be it grapes, apples,........
