Janet McCue: Healing through drumming and song
On her finger was a Grinch ring, on her ears were Grinch earrings, a Grinch brooch was on her shoulder and on her feet were Grinch shoes — yet this lady was no Grinch.
She was laughing and having a good time at a recent Right to Heal fundraising event at the Curve Lake Church in Curve Lake.
Janet McCue is her name. She has the spirit, and it is not mean-spirited like the Grinch. One of her many activities is working with the Right to Heal organization. Right to Heal is an addictions counselling organization in Peterborough. Janet teaches drumming and singing there on Thursday afternoons.
Janet started singing in 2002. She had a teacher, the Spirit Wind drumming group from Toronto. That teacher taught Janet and her friends how to make drums and taught them Indigenous songs.
