Buckhorn Yacht Harbour: Keeping boaters afloat since 1974

In May 1974 Peter Fuderer, his school-aged younger brother and sister, came to Buckhorn with their mom and dad.

His parents were to run a small resort in the area. There was a three-boat marina on the swampy, forested land they had purchased.

Fifty-two years later their marina stores more than 200 boats a year and has 30-plus people on their staff, which includes four to five employees in the summer just for groundskeeping.

Fuderer had finished high school and was ready to attend Humber Polytechnic for business. His dad directed him to a 40-week program at Fleming College for marine mechanics. Fuderer said the Humber course was worthwhile as he has used the information to accomplish what he has done as much as the marine mechanics program.
