Keep active this winter at Mapleridge Recreation Centre  

There are lots of winter activities planned at Mapleridge Recreation Centre.

The mission of the non-profit organization is to provide social, recreational and educational activities for adults 50 and older.

“Aging well is about more than staying active — it’s about staying connected,” says Jessica Barbuto, executive director. “At Mapleridge we believe healthy aging is built on friendship, purpose and community, and we warmly invite new members to experience what makes our centre such a special place.”

Physical activity has been shown to improve one’s mood, strength, balance, as well as help with sleep and anxiety.

The programs are designed to promote cognitive well-being and meaningful connections. From card games, shuffleboard, darts and billiards to fitness classes, educational workshops and community lunches, the programs offer many ways to stay engaged, energized and........
