Beat those winter blues at the Canadian Canoe Museum

The Canadian Canoe Museum, located at 2077 Ashburnham Dr., on Little Lake, has lots of events going on this winter to beat the winter blahs.

David Pelly and Dan Wong will present “Canoeing in the Barrenlands — Past & Present” on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m., where they examine the history and evolution of canoeing in the Arctic and look ahead to the future. 

Pelly is a writer, researcher, historian and photographer, whose latest book, “The Ancestors Are Happy: True Tales of the Arctic,” will be released by Dundurn Press in its second edition.

About 1.2 million square kilometres in size, the barrenlands extend from Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories east to Hudson Bay, from the treeline in the south and north to the Arctic Ocean and comprises the largest swath of accessible wilderness in the world.
