Chris and Leigh Higley have much in common.

For several years, both were referees in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association. Leigh also officiated games for the Kawartha Komets hockey team. They both coached minor hockey teams for many years.

A past-president of the Peterborough Girls Hockey Association (PGHA), Chris and his wife, Hazel, spent many years together volunteering in the organization. Chris also served two seasons as head trainer for the Peterborough Coach Canada Bees junior-A hockey club.

Leigh, an experienced special constable with the Peterborough Police Service and mother to five children, started officiating while she was a student at Kenner Collegiate. She started playing hockey in the Peterborough Community Church Hockey League (PCCHL) on boys teams. After her peewee year (now U13), she joined the PGHA. She also played hockey for the Kenner girls hockey........
