Mortal enemies battle for air space
I had been watching and photographing a pair of bald eagles perched high up in a dead tree. This is a relatively new pair of eagles to our area.
They are a young mated pair that I suspect are offspring of one of pairs of eagles that live here in the Kawartha Lakes.
They are just now coming into full maturity which means they are about five years old. You can tell this because they have just a touch of brown left on their tail feathers. Their heads are fully white though. The male still has some black left on his beak so I think he is slightly younger than the female. Once he matures a little more it will be entirely bright yellow.
The male of a mated pair of bald eagles takes flight.
I had watched this pair mate earlier in the spring and after I had not seen them together. This would be normal........
