Nothing seems to excite a crowd more than two netminders ‘chucking their knuckles’

When hockey fans reminisce about the most exciting moments during a game, they often think of overtime heroics, and highlight reel goals. They also think of thunderous bodychecks, and miraculous saves.

While all of the aforementioned plays create excitement, and lasting memories, nothing compares to the adrenalin felt when two goalies drop their blockers and trappers. This could very easily be defined as one of the most uncommon, yet most exciting moments in a hockey game.

We witnessed this rare scenario unfold on Jan. 19, when Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky skated the length of the ice to challenge San Jose Sharks puckstopper Alex Nedeljkovic to a fight.

The skirmish that ensued was mediocre at best. However, Panthers fans at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida were very enthusiastic to watch the 37-year-old Russian exchange unpleasantries with the 30-year-old Nedeljkovic.
