FOR facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and averting a major catastrophe, political, social and global leaders including heads of major countries have praised Pakistan’s role, with some government officials declaring Pakistan deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize.

In principle, Pakistan could be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize for playing an important role in the US-Iran ceasefire, as the Nobel Committee has previously awarded individuals, organizations and governments. Pakistan contributed diplomatically to reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir held high-level talks with President Trump, after which he agreed to pause military action against Iran for a limited period.
