German hockey fans celebrate Leon Draisaitl’s tremendous milestone
Leon Draisaitl’s 1,000th point isn’t just a massive milestone for one of the game’s best players – it’s a capstone that cements his status as the greatest German hockey player of all-time. Many fans from Deutschland watched at 1:30 AM local time to see Draisaitl achieve the feat at 11:38 of the 1st period, with the secondary assist on Zach Hyman’s 1-0 power play goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night (or Wednesday morning). This Oilers-Germany connection is strong, even with Oilersnation having a German outlet, and groups of fans making trips to Edmonton to watch their Oilers in person.
