Readers sound off on Haitian migrants, COVID school rules and Mallomars

Roosevelt, L.I.: The inhumane treatment of Haitian migrants is absolutely unacceptable. We must demand change now! Hardline immigration reform policies and dangerous Temporary Protected Status and DACA deportation plans have one crystal-clear purpose: To deport as many Black and Brown people as possible in order to prevent minorities from becoming the majority in America, and to stop minorities from becoming an unstoppable voting bloc throughout the political landscape in America.

Wake up, people, and stop the racism, classism and sexism. Stop the evil and unjust immigration, tax and entitlement reform tactics. No matter how good the deep-tax-cut economy is for the rich 1% in America, it is really bad for poor people of all colors and creeds. The inhumane treatment and separation of Black and Brown families is an old-school racist tactic straight out of the mass enslavement of Black Africans. This is still used today against Black and Brown immigrants in ICE deportation round-ups, lockups and lockouts across the nation.

This is clearly full of double standards. Only Black and Brown immigrants are put in cages to wait for deportation. No business owners are ever rounded up or locked up for hiring the hard-working people they call illegal immigrants. Without the Black and Brown immigrant, America will fail. This country needs their business brilliance. I personally know many responsible and hardworking Black and Brown immigrants who have been victims of dangerous deportation discrimination tactics.

America must take a strong stand against racist immigration policies designed to deport and destroy the lives of Black and Brown immigrants in massive numbers. Rev. Arthur L. Mackey Jr.
