Nottingham's own 'Camden Market' is one of city's most exciting areas - so why is it still a hidden gem?

As someone who has lived in Nottingham for a good few years now, I like to think myself fairly knowledgeable of the city. With a job that requires me to travel for stories around both the wider county as well as the city itself, I find myself spending one day in Mapperley and the next in Mansfield.

It's rare these days that I'll stumble upon a new area by chance, having most likely previously covered a story there or having visited in a personal capacity. Yet, discovering the bohemian Sneinton Market was a rare exception to this.

I had skirted just past its entrance, just off the busy Lower Parliament Street, countless times. Yet I'd never realised what lay behind the towering blocks of high-rise student complexes peppered throughout the city centre main road.

It's an experience, I've since discovered, that is extremely common. Many people I now talk to who regularly visit the market - including some traders themselves - also say they stumbled upon it by chance.

Yet once you visit the market, it's unlikely you'll hesitate to return - and it's no wonder why. In a world where we increasingly........
