Hardware shop that has been operating for more than 50 years is up for sale

James Oliver, who took over Wensum DIY from his father 15 years ago, has put the shop up for sale.

The store, located in Norwich Road in Costessey, has running for more than 50 years.

Mr Oliver said: "I am looking for a change. I have been in the business 20 years this summer.

"I think we will be missed by customers and I will miss them.

"We have lots of things tucked away in nooks and crannies and we know it all.

"I have been doing this for most of my life."

The 43-year-old added that he hopes the shop will continue to thrive with new owners.

He said: "A lot of people like small independent stores.

"Hopefully we can find someone to take up the mantle."

The shop, advertised by agents EMF is up for £450,000.
