Norwich Greens dominate county vote as Labour support collapses

Reform UK claimed two Norwich seats at County Hall, while the Liberal Democrats took the remaining ward.

The result marks a dramatic improvement for the Greens, who held just four county council seats going into the elections, and amounts to a near-total takeover of the city.

Labour, meanwhile, failed to win a single ward - a stark collapse for a party that had previously had seven county councillors in Norwich.

In six county wards, the Greens beat Labour by more than 1,000 votes.

Helena Wysocki, one of the newly elected Green councillors, said: “I’m really delighted. We won by a really wide margin, which we weren’t expecting.

"After speaking with hundreds of residents, they have chosen hope.”

Reform also had cause to celebrate. Tim Day, a first-time candidate, won the Crome ward - securing seats on both the county council and Norwich City Council.
