Post box in Golden Triangle covered by black bag before Christmas

The post box in Unthank Road - in front of Golden Lantern, a Chinese takeaway - has been covered in a black plastic bag - with "out of service" scrawled across it in white pen.

It comes as Royal Mail prepares to roll out its biggest change to the classic red receptacles in 175 years.

Some of the postboxes earmarked for an upgrade have an explanatory sign taped to them (Image: Submitted)

Some postboxes currently feature a sign with a QR code explaining why it has been covered up, while others are simply wrapped up in plastic without explanation.
