Four in a Bed winning B&B no longer serving breakfasts

The owners of 38 St Giles in Norwich announced they served their "wonderful breakfasts" for the final time on Easter Monday.

Guests will, however, still get to start their day with a freshly cooked meal just down the road, following its new partnership with JC Pinto.

The brunch spot on St John Maddermarket that serves everything from a Full English to Turkish Egg and Filled Croissants will be offering a discount on brunch and breakfast dishes for all 38 St Giles guests.

Owner Dennis Bacon took on the property 11 years ago and his daughter Holly has since been running it and transforming it into the award-winning business that it is today.

Just last year, the bed and breakfast took home gold when winning Channel 4's Four in a Bed.

Since winning, the team has had to make the decision in order to keep running the business at high standards.

Miss Bacon said: "It’s been such a difficult decision to stop offering breakfast and convert to room-only accommodation.

"However, as many of our friends running local, independent businesses will know, the rising cost of absolutely everything has been a real struggle and we had to face facts that it is unfortunately no longer economically viable for us."

Miss Bacon added that joining forces with a fellow independent business in the Norwich lanes is a privilege.

"We’re so excited to know that our guests will still be receiving a standout breakfast in a gorgeous location," she said.

Following the new arrangements, prices have had to be adjusted to suit the new external breakfast plans.

Miss Bacon stressed that the high-quality standards will also be kept throughout, with them looking into room upgrades to make sure guests will remain happy with the transition.
