Sandwich shop stripped bare amid refurb

Contractors are preparing to set up self-service kiosks at Subway in Rampant Horse Street, which forms nearly a month's worth of refurbishments.

The site's dining area has been emptied following the restaurant's closure on February 27.

The new digital screens will "allow guests to explore the menu and order at their own pace" a spokesman from Subway said.

"Team members will remain on hand to assist and ordering at the counter will continue to be available for those looking for the classic Subway experience," he added.

The site is set to reopen mid-March.

Other Subway locations in the city include St Stephen's Street, London Street and Magdalen Street.

Rampant Horse Street was given its name by a former pub that dates back to the 13th century called the Rampant Horse Inn.

The inn was a busy stop for travellers and traders, complete with stables and yards for their horses.
