Runner secures spot in Six Star hall of fame after completing 25th marathon

Philippa Rudd, who lives in Thorpe St Andrew, is one of fewer than 2,500 people worldwide to have completed the six world marathon majors in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York.

She has been travelling all over the globe after falling in love with running in 2007, while working as a solicitor at Cousins-Hardy in Norwich.

She said: "My first marathon was the New York City Marathon in 2008.

“It was incredibly exciting, I took my three sons with me who were quite young at the time.

“The crowds were amazing.

“I wanted to carry on after that.

“I did Berlin in 2009 which was my first sub four-hour marathon.

“And then in 2012, I did Boston, it was very hot, and I had to walk a lot.

“I’ve ran the London Marathon six times.

“Three of those I had qualified to run with a sub-four-hour marathon.

“In 2025, I did Chicago before completing Tokyo in March this year."

Ms Rudd was due to run the Boston race in 2010 but didn't complete the event as her flight was cancelled following the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano.

She qualified again for the race in Edinburgh in 2011, then finally ran it in 2012.

She said: “Two of my colleagues from Cousins-Hardy ran some marathons with me, including Paris, Rome and Athens.

“I still speak to them despite leaving the firm in 2018.

“My sons were growing up and were quite happy with me going off at the weekends.

“I am running the Trowse 10km with them on Mother's Day.

“They are quite competitive with each other.

“There was me thinking we would be running it together but I’m not sure that will be the case.”
