Headteacher wins by-election for Tories (but misses result for leavers' last day) |
Antony Little, the principal of Norwich's Hewett Academy, won the Old Catton by-election, seeing off the Greens by just over 50 votes.
He missed the announcement of his victory because he was attending leavers' celebrations at his Cecil Road school.
The by-election was prompted by the resignation of Reform's Mark Tucker in June, less than a month after he won the seat from the Conservatives.
Mr Little won it back with 973 votes, 52 ahead of his nearest challenger - Phoebe Connell, from the Greens.
