12,000 in Norfolk to be told artificial intelligence says they're at risk of falls
Council officials will be telephoning or writing to these individuals, encouraging them to take action that could stop them ending up in hospital. It is hoped the scheme will reduce pressure on the stretched NHS and adult social care.
The initiative is set to be rolled out countywide after successful trials of the technology in parts of Norfolk.
Norfolk County Council has used artificial intelligence to analyse people which it, and district councils, have had contact with - to assess whether they are at risk of falling at home.

A process called machine learning has been used to develop algorithms, for computers to assess thousands of relationships between numerous risks and the likelihood of falling.
