Revealed: The Norfolk event that causes school absence rates to soar

Those days may now be gone but it seems many are bunking off to go anyway.

A Department for Education (DfE) report has revealed that absence rates at the county's schools soar while the show is on.

It found that they spiked by five times the national average on the second day of the show, on Thursday June 26 last year, compared with the Thursday before.

It added the biggest increases were seen in both boys and girls in Year 6 and above, while the biggest increase of 5.1pc points was seen in Year 9 boys, where the national rate was less than 1pc.
