Developer ditches plans to include affordable homes on new estate

Torrington Properties say the cost of building 22 homes at the former Lingwood First School has increased to more than £6million due to increased costs.

The developer had intended for six homes (28pc) to be allocated for affordable homes on the brownfield site in Chapel Road, but sought to reverse its commitment to providing low-cost properties as it is no longer viable.

And the drive to build more houses across Broadland left councillors with little choice but to agree the developer could build on the site without including affordable housing.
