Manufacturers warn costs are close to 'tipping point'

Almost nine in ten manufacturers in the UK expect their employment costs to rise this year, with two-thirds forecasting that their energy costs will also increase, according to a survey of 174 industry chiefs conducted by manufacturing organisation Make UK.

Just shy of two-thirds (65pc) of firms say growing costs in 2026 are a major risk, which Make UK says “are threatening to reach a tipping point”.
