New Delhi: Released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) following a flop season, owing mainly to the heavy price tag of Rs 23.75 crore, Venkatesh Iyer found a new Indian Premier League (IPL) home at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
The former KKR all-rounder entered the auction at a base price of Rs. 2 crore and attracted the attention of Lucknow Super Giants once and Gujarat Titans, who initiated the bids.
However, after the first few bids, KKR and RCB joined the bidding war, and after a few instances of getting the paddle up, at 7 crore, KKR finally pulled out of the race as RCB won the bid for the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder.
IPL 2026 might prove to be a redemption season for Iyer, who, after being bought for a whopping Rs 23.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction, failed to live up to the heavy price tag. Iyer endured a dismal season, scoring just........
