Stripe to buy OpenRouter for over $7 billion in major AI deal: Report

Stripe has reportedly agreed to acquire AI model gateway startup OpenRouter for more than $7 billion. The deal could give Stripe a major position in AI infrastructure as developers increasingly use multiple models based on cost, speed and performance.

Stripe has reportedly finalised an agreement to acquire AI startup OpenRouter for more than $7 billion, in a deal that could push the payments company much deeper into artificial intelligence infrastructure. Bloomberg reported the agreement citing people familiar with the matter, adding that the final purchase price could still change.

The deal comes only months after OpenRouter raised $113 million in a Series B funding round at a reported valuation of around $1.3 billion. That makes the reported acquisition........
