Relegation as per regulation as AIFF prepares to float tender
New Delhi: I-League clubs have told All Indian Football Federation that the long-pending relegation should be implemented on the two bottom-placed teams to maintain sanctity of the competition.
At a meeting on Thursday ahead of floating a joint tender for I-League, I-League 2 and I-League 3, clubs said relegation should be implemented as per tournament regulations.
Eight clubs attended the meeting while three, including runners-up Churchill Brothers, were absent.
Delhi FC and Sporting Club Bengaluru finished at the bottom of the standings after conclusion of the league in April, and on appeal, AIFF’s appeal committee issued a stay order on relegation on May 27.
